North American Coordinate Metrology Association
In 2007, the Association for Coordinate Metrology Canada (ACMC), inaugurated by NRC dimensional metrologists in 1995, became the North American Coordinate Metrology Association (NACMA) with the chair and the venue rotating among Canada, the United States, and Mexico. In 2009, Mexico is hosting the tri-national workshop on 17-18 September in the city of Santiago de Querétaro, Qro. Mexico.
NACMA brings together machine operators, inspectors, quality control engineers, production engineers, and equipment suppliers, predominantly from automobile and aerospace sectors, to share technical knowledge on the operation of CMMs and on the implementation of related international measurement standards. Workshops are held in centres of clustered manufacturers that use CMMs in their processes, or near the host country’s National Metrology Institute. NIST (USA), NRC (Canada), and CENAM (Mexico) support the activities of this sector-driven North American organization. Presentations are given by experts from around the world on subjects such as measurement uncertainties, CMM and GD&T software validation, free form surface measurements, and laser scanners
